2007 Tournament Rules
  1. USA HOCKEY rules shall apply. Which includes automatic off-sides.
  2. All games will consist of 3 periods (12 minutes -12 minute-12 minutes), stop time for all division. There will be a 3 minute warm-up prior to each game. All games begin immediately upon completion of the 3 minute warm up. NOTE – 3 min. warm-up for ALL GAMES!
  3. All teams MUST be available to play 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
  4. The USA Hockey minimum suspension guidelines will be strictly enforced. All suspensions will be enforced according to USA HOCKEY Constitution, By-laws, and Regulations & Rules
  5. Any individual PLAYER receiving 5 penalties in ONE game or any TEAM receiving 15 penalties in one game, player or coach respectively will receive a game misconduct.
  6. Girls will shake hands after each game.
  7. If the goal spread at any time of the third period reaches 5 goals, the clock will run until the spread is reduced to 3 goals, then stop time will resume. In the event the TOTAL number of penalty infractions accessed to both teams during any one game reaches a COMBINED TOTAL OF 26 PENALTIES (minor and/or major) the time clock will be operated on running time for the remainder of that game. NB: 26 INFRACTIONS – NOT MINUTES.
  8. One - 30 second timeout will be allowed for each team during Elimination - Quarter - Semifinal & Championship games only. Overtime is not a new game. There is NO TIMEOUT in Round Robin Games.
  9. A maximum of 20 players with no more than 18 skaters may be rostered with each team.
  10. To be eligible to participate in the tournament, the participant’s name must appear on the team roster form submitted with the final roster submission. Any changes to the roster must be made in writing and will not be permitted after registration prior to the first game. ALL Players must be registered with their Governing Body.
  11. Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and zero (0) points for a loss.
  12. Standings after the round robin will be calculated on the basis of the points awarded as per rule #11 as shown above.
  13. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to break the tie:
    1. Winner between the tied teams when they played head to head (not applicable in a three way tie)
    2. Percentage as calculated by dividing team’s total “Goals For” by the SUM of the team’s “Goals For and Goals Against”. TGF / ( GF+GA) = %
    3. Fewest Goals Against.
    4. Most Goals For.
    5. Fewest Penalty Minutes.
    6. Coin Toss.
    7. Follow Tie breaking rules in Order. Once a Tie Breaking Rule has been used or is not applicable it cannot be used again.
  14. Tier 1 & 2 - U10 - 8 Team Divisions: First and second overall will advance to the Tier 1 Championship Game. Third, fourth, fifth and sixth overall will advance to the Tier 2 semifinals. Teams ranked 7th & 8th will compete in a Consolation Game.
  15. Tier 1 U12 - 8 Team Division: First and second place teams in each pool will advance to semifinals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  16. Tier 2 U12 - 10 Team Division: First, second, third and fourth overall will advance to semifinals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  17. Tier 1 U14 - 12 Team Division: The first place team in each pool (A, B and C) and one wildcard team (highest remaining team) will advance to semifinals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  18. Tier 2 U14 - 6 Team Division: First and second place teams overall will advance to finals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  19. Tier 1AA U17 – 10 Team Division: First, second, third and fourth overall will advance to semifinals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  20. Tier 1A U17 – 7 Team Division: – After playing TWO games, all teams will be ranked 1-7th overall. First, second, third and fourth overall will advance to semifinals, with winners advancing to finals and losers playing each other in a Consolation Game. Fifth, Sixth and Seventh overall will play each other in a two-game round-robin for their Consolation Games.
  21. Tier 2 U17 – 8 Team Division: First and second place teams in each pool will advance to semifinals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  22. Tier 1 U19 – 6 Team Division: First and Second place teams overall will advance to finals. All remaining teams will be ranked for placement into Consolation Games.
  23. Semi-finals & Championship games are played to a winner. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time a Sudden Victory 5 minute overtime will commence. Teams will play 4 on 4. Players may be changed at any time. Goalies may be “pulled” at any time and a substitute player from the bench may be used. If still tied, a shoot out will occur.
  24. Shoot Outs: Teams do not change ends for Overtime or Shoot Outs.
    Each team must designate 3 shooters (S1, S2, S3) directly onto the game sheet prior to the start of the game. Any player serving a penalty at the end of overtime will not be eligible to participate in the shoot out. All players except shooter and goalies will be on the bench. Once a player has shot, they will go to the penalty box. Shooters from both teams will shoot simultaneously, starting at centre ice. All 3 designated shooters from each team will shoot. If still tied, each team will designate one shooter at a time until there is a winner. A player may not shoot for a second time until all players on the game sheet (except goalies) have shot.
  25. Home teams must wear light coloured jerseys. In the event of a conflict, the home team must change their jerseys. Visiting teams will advise opposing team of any conflict 30 minutes prior to game time.
  26. Awards and Banners will be given out to Championship Winners & Finalists.
  27. All players and team officials must sign the game sheet prior to each game.
  28. Flooding of the ice will occur at the end of each game or between periods as required and may be deferred at the Tournament Committee’s discretion.
  29. NO TEAM PHOTOS WILL BE TAKEN ON ICE DUE TO Insurance Regulations.
  30. Championship Awards and Medals may be Presented Off ice if deemed necessary by tournament Officials and will be presented at a determined location as required.
  31. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure a clean dressing room is left upon completion of their game. All teams are requested to vacate the dressing room 30 minutes or less after their game is completed.
  32. The decisions of the Tournament Officials are final with no appeals!!

  • Championship Semi-final games are played to a winner.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time a SUDDEN VICTORY FIVE (5) minute overtime will commence.
  • Teams will start play with 4 on 4 Plus goalies. Players may be changed at any time. Goalies may be “pulled” at any time and a substitute skater -player from the bench may be used.
  • If still tied at the end of the Sudden Victory Overtime, a SHOOTOUT will occur.
  • Each team MUST designate 3 Shooters (S1, S2, S3) on the game sheet prior to the start of the game in the Left Hand Column.
  • Any player serving a penalty at the end of overtime will not be eligible to participate in the shoot out. The coach must designate a shooter to take her place immediately at the end of regulation time.
  • All players except shooter and goalies will be on the bench TO START.
  • Shooters from both teams will shoot at the same time starting at centre ice.
  • Once a player has shot, they will go to the penalty box.
  • All 3 designated shooters from each team will shoot.
  • If still tied, each team will designate one shooter at a time until there is a winner. A player may not shoot for a second time until all players on the game sheet (except goalies) have shot.

If a penalty occurs during the 5- minute overtime, the teams play 4 on 3.
If a second penalty is called on the SAME TEAM and the first penalty has not expired, then it will be treated as a delayed penalty and will commence when the first penalty expires.
The Maximum a Team may be at a disadvantage is 4 on 3
