Frequently Asked Questions

Why do teams come to this event each year?

  1. A great opportunity to play International Level teams
  2. For Ontario Based Teams it is the last chance just before Provincials for those other then the Intermediate divisions, to see teams they may be playing against the following weekend and use as a scouting opportunity from a coaching perspective
  3. Some teams use it as their end of season party week and celebration
  4. Some teams who are not going to provincials use it to keep their athletes on ice as they get ready to prepare for the next seasons tryouts
  5. Most just come to enjoy the overall experience that has been around for 40 Years
Our Senior Recreational team wants to come to the tournament, but I'm not sure which division to register my team in. Could you please describe the recreational divisions for me?

Senior REC2 -- Beginners level -- Teams with mostly new, inexperienced recreational players and maybe a few experienced recreational players.

Senior REC1 -- Intermediate level -- Teams with mostly experienced recreational players and maybe a few competitive recreational players.

Senior OPEN -- Competitive level -- Teams with mostly experienced, competitive recreational players.

In order to improve fair competition our tournament director will send you a questionnaire for you to tell us more about your team. We will then review your team and conduct some research to make the best possible decision regarding the appropriate level for your team to play in.

Is there still room in the tournament for our team?

The Canadettes Tournament does its best to provide space for all teams who register before the deadline. We try to not limit the number of teams in a division. Although as we move closer to the tournament date we will cap off certain divisions that have reached their maximum. We can however accept up to 36 teams in event division. For more specific details, email the Tournament Director: info@sportacularevent.com.

When will tournament schedules be available?

All teams want to have their schedules in their hands as quickly as possible. Well we too need this for scheduling our officials and volunteers and numerous other requirements taking place behind the scenes. As you can appreciate that because of the fact we try to find replacement teams when teams back out at the very last moment and that based on sizes of divisions and age groups the schedule is the largest and most daunting task of all.
Tournament schedules will be available by March 22, 2007, and will be posted on this website. Team contacts are responsible to watch this website.

I am a referee and I want to ref in your tournament. Who do I contact?

Please click on our Tournament Referee page for more information.

Can I still add players to my roster even though I have submitted my roster online?

Any players added after the online roster system closes, must be reported when your team manager checks the team in at the tournament. All proper paperwork (OWHA pick-up forms) must be included, in original copy.

When do we get to submit our teams Final Roster and Staff Information?

Thanks for asking as this information is crucial for 2 reasons.
  1. is to ensure the teams information is current for the Tournament Programs as well all the games sheet labels we will be producing and affixing to all game sheets to save everyone some time and energy.
  2. Your final roster submitted is your teams declaration of who will be rostered as well to ensure any appropriate paperwork is in order on your behalf before you arrive at the tournament. Failing to produce the correct paperwork may result in a player not being able to participate..so if your not sure ask the Tournament director.
